Humans (logically) were not around when the building blocks of life formed and started coalescing into bigger structures. Watching these latest self propelled blocks from MIT it feels like we’re getting the view of that early life for AI robot life:
This may look clunky but it is extraordinarily impressive. With work I’m sure this can be scaled up and down to make astonishing self-organizing structures.
It might look slow and awkward, but so were the first cars if you compare them to a Tesla today.
